GUIDE: KIKE ARNAIZ
Hi! I'm Kike Arnaiz, a professional wildlife and nature photographer. I've spent more than a decade traveling the world in search of wildlife, collaborating with major brands and publishing my work in outlets such as National Geographic.
A big part of my work is documenting these adventures on YouTube, where we're already more than one million people. You can also find my photographs on Instagram as @kikearnaiz.
I've visited this destination many times and know its wildlife and the dynamics of the trip well, which will allow me to help you get the most out of the experience.
And although this trip isn't designed exclusively for photographers, if you decide to bring your camera I'll be happy to share tips and techniques I've learned over years photographing wildlife around the world.
Adventure itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Tanzania
Pick-up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive to our lodge for a team dinner and the welcome briefing.
Day 2 – First safari in Tarangire
After breakfast, we'll drive to Tarangire National Park with a packed lunch to arrive in time for our first safari, in this national park known for its elephant sightings, tree-climbing lions and much more. Then in the afternoon we drive to the Eileen's Tree lodge to rest, have dinner and spend the night.
Days 3 and 4 – Ndutu: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
We'll start with a delicious breakfast at the resort, then set off for our star destination: the great plains of the Serengeti, where the great migration takes place. On the way we'll stop at the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint, and see the authentic Maasai villages in the area. This is also home to the site of one of the planet's earliest hominids!
Once we arrive at the lodge and drop off our things, we start with the sightings: we'll spend two full days on safari in the Ngorongoro conservation area and the Ndutu lakes, where we can find several of the great cats: lions, leopards, cheetahs, servals... and many more surprises await us, like searching for the great wildebeest and zebra migration.
Days 5, 6 and 7 – Serengeti
Serengeti park is the star location, where we'll be immersed with our photography vehicles in search of action, taking advantage of the best morning and afternoon light. Here we can expect to see great predator action… as well as, of course, other large mammals like elephants, zebras, giraffes… get ready, because you're going to burn out your camera with so many photos!
On the seventh day, we take advantage of the sunrise light for one last safari in the Serengeti, then head back to Arusha to sleep near the airport on the final night.
Day 8 – Back home
From Arusha, transport to JRO airport in time for your flight. Or, if you prefer, you can stay longer in the country to visit places like Zanzibar island, Mounts Meru and Kilimanjaro, or do more safaris in another region.
